Prabowo Affirms Indonesia's Bright Future: Those Who Say It's Dark Have Blurry Eyes
Magelang, VIVA – President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has urged Indonesia’s young generation not to worry about the state of the nation any longer. He emphasised that Indonesia has a very bright future.
The President made this statement during the inauguration of the electric commercial vehicle assembly plant owned by PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk in Magelang, Central Java, on Thursday, 9 April 2026.
“To the young people, our future is bright. Those who say it’s not bright, those who say Indonesia is dark, perhaps their eyesight isn’t good,” said Prabowo.
He added that people who describe Indonesia as dark lack sincerity in their hearts.
“What do we want to do with people whose eyes and hearts—if their hearts aren’t sincere, their eyes are blurry, then Indonesia is dark for them. Indonesia is not dark; Indonesia is very, very bright,” he stated.
On the other hand, the Head of State said that Indonesia will no longer import fuel oil (BBM) in two to three years’ time. He assured that Indonesia will achieve energy independence.
“In two or three years, we won’t need to import BBM at all. We will be independent, we will be strong, we will stand on our own two feet,” Prabowo declared.
According to him, Indonesia is currently in a phase of resurgence with continuously increasing economic strength.
He even stated that Indonesia’s economic growth will surprise the world in the near future. He likened Indonesia to a giant.
“Our growth is good; next year we will surprise the entire world. Indonesia is rising,” Prabowo asserted firmly.
“This giant has awakened; we are no longer a sleeping giant; we are rising,” he added.
