Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed that the government will promptly conduct an investigation into the collision between the long-distance KA Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the KRL Commuter Line at Bekasi Timur Station, West Java, on Monday (27/4) evening.

The President made this statement after visiting the victims currently receiving treatment at RSUD dr. Chasbullah Abdulmadjid in Bekasi, West Java, on Tuesday morning.

“We will soon carry out an investigation into how the incident occurred,” said Prabowo, as monitored from the live YouTube broadcast of the Presidential Secretariat.

Prabowo stated that the investigation aims to determine the exact cause of the incident that resulted in casualties.

On that occasion, President Prabowo conveyed his deepest condolences for the fatalities in the incident and instructed that all injured victims receive optimal treatment until they recover.

Additionally, the government will conduct a thorough evaluation of the railway safety system to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

“But in broad terms, we note that many railway tracks are unguarded. We will address this immediately,” he said.

Prabowo assured that the victims are receiving the best medical care and provided moral support to the patients and affected families.

The President also received direct reports from relevant officials on the progress of post-incident victim handling. The government has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing this incident quickly, accurately, and comprehensively.

President Prabowo visited the victims of the train collision being treated at RSUD dr. Chasbullah Abdulmadjid in Bekasi City on Tuesday morning. The President arrived at the location around 08:39 WIB.

The President then proceeded directly to the surgical clinic, followed by the Bougenville treatment room. Prabowo interacted with the victims who were being treated there.

Previously, a collision occurred between the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the KRL Commuter Line at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday (27/4) evening.

PT KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin stated that based on the latest data as of 08:45 WIB, 14 people have died.

The deceased victims have been taken to RS Polri Kramat Jati for further identification processes. Meanwhile, 84 injured victims have received medical treatment at various healthcare facilities.

Victim handling is being carried out at several healthcare facilities, including RSUD Bekasi, RS Bella Bekasi, RS Primaya, RS Mitra Plumbon Cibitung, RS Bakti Kartini, RS Siloam Bekasi Timur, RS Hermina, as well as RS Mitra Keluarga Bekasi Timur and Barat.

PT KAI has set up an Emergency Response Post and an Information Post at Bekasi Timur Station to assist families in obtaining information about victims and passengers. Families can contact the KAI Contact Center at 121.

For the time being, Bekasi Timur Station is not serving passenger boarding and alighting. KRL services are operating up to Bekasi Station, while the downstream line has been opened for train operations with limited arrangements.
