Prabowo affirms commitment to working hard to maintain peace
President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed his commitment to working hard to maintain peace as a principal component of his leadership of Indonesia.
Prabowo stated that as Head of State, he holds the responsibility to protect all Indonesian citizens without regard to ethnicity, race, or religion.
“Whatever their ethnicity, whatever their race, whatever their religion, they must be protected, must be safeguarded, must be cared for, must be nurtured, must be developed. Therefore, what I most keenly recognise is the need to work very hard to maintain peace,” Prabowo said during the State-level Commemoration of Nuzulul Quran 1447 Hijriah/2026 CE at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday evening.
He identified maintaining peace as one of the primary priorities of his administration.
Additionally, Prabowo affirmed that Indonesia will continue to maintain friendly relations with all nations worldwide and respect all global powers, both large and small.
He described this principle as a path set by the nation’s founders and aligned with the teachings of various religions that emphasise the importance of peace.
Nevertheless, Prabowo emphasised that maintaining peace cannot be achieved through prayer or hope alone, but must be realised through hard work to create prosperity and justice for society.
Furthermore, Prabowo believed that efforts to eliminate poverty, hunger, and public suffering constitute an important part of creating sustainable peace.
“Certainly, maintaining peace is not accomplished merely through prayer and hope, but also through striving and hard work to achieve prosperity and justice,” Prabowo said.
