Prabowo Affirms Commitment to Eradicate Corruption to Its Roots

President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed his commitment to eradicating corruption to its roots so that all of the nation’s wealth and assets can be managed for the benefit of the people.

He made the statement while attending the launch and groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a 100 GWp Solar Power Plant (PLTS) in Jembrana, Bali, on Tuesday (25/8).

“The essence of this nation’s strength is that all national assets, all national wealth must be managed as well as possible, as honestly as possible, on the basis of patriotism, love of the homeland, love of the people, and a tremendous sense of responsibility,” said Prabowo.

Therefore, the President stressed that the government must fight and eradicate corrupt practices to their roots. “Because of that, misappropriation and corruption must be fought, must be eradicated to the roots,” Prabowo asserted.

Prabowo acknowledged that there are still parties who doubt the government’s seriousness in eradicating corruption. However, the President assured that the government is genuinely undertaking these efforts.

According to Prabowo, eradicating corruption and closing state financial leakages has a direct impact on the government’s ability to address various problems.

The Head of State cited the government’s ability to deploy hundreds of helicopters, dozens of aircraft, heavy equipment, water pumps, and thousands of personnel to handle various disasters.

“How can we now overcome problems, have hundreds of helicopters, procure heavy equipment if we do not have money? Where does that money come from? That money comes from what we have saved, from the corruption that has been ongoing,” said Prabowo.

The Head of State said the government has so far been working to stop various state financial leakages. However, he stressed that these efforts are not yet sufficient and must continue to be strengthened. “So far we have stopped those leakages, but we are not satisfied. We must be even stricter in managing all finances,” said Prabowo.

The launch of the 100 Gigawatt peak (GWp) PLTS at the Java-Bali Sea Crossing Operation Monument in Gilimanuk is part of the National Priority Work Programme for the Energy and Water Independence Cluster, which is directed at strengthening national energy independence and resilience as well as reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
