Prabowo Affirms Bahlil's Statement on Fuel Security, Here is the Latest Evidence
President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has urged the entire public to remain calm amid the global turbulence that has occurred in recent weeks, particularly regarding fuel oil (BBM) issues.
According to him, the current national fuel supply condition is secure. This is based on reports from the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia.
“Mr Bahlil says it’s safe, so stay calm,” Prabowo stated during the Presidential Briefing at the Working Meeting of the Government Members of the Red and White Cabinet at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, quoted on Thursday (9/4/2026).
However, he emphasised that the government is not complacent despite the assessed safe condition. Various anticipatory measures are still being prepared to address global dynamics so as not to directly impact the public.
“Safe doesn’t mean we relax; we work and stay alert,” he explained.
The Head of the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body (BPH Migas) Wahyudi Anas has been candid about the current national fuel supply condition, both for subsidised and non-subsidised BBM types.
In his presentation, for RON 90 fuel or Pertalite, the total national reserve is still at 18.1 days. The reserve stock reaches 1.51 million kilolitres (KL) with daily consumption of 84,038 KL. “This status is still very safe,” Wahyudi Anas clarified during the Opinion Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission VII of the DPR, quoted on Thursday (9/4/2026).
Meanwhile, for non-subsidised fuel like Pertamax RON 92, it is also in a safe condition with reserves reaching 22.1 days. For Pertamax Turbo RON 98, it reaches 46.5 days.
“This means all types of petrol BBM are very safe, and the situation is all distributed and served to the public,” Wahyudi stressed.
Meanwhile, for subsidised diesel fuel, the stock resilience is still at 16.5 days with national stock reaching 1.57 million KL and daily consumption reaching 95,638 KL. For Pertamina DEX CN53 stock, it reaches 64.5 days.
“And the BBM stock condition specifically for gasoil and gasoline is indeed very dynamic. Because public needs as well as to maintain stock balance, we have confirmed with the Pertamina Group that refineries continue normal production, with no maintenance activities, so this fluctuating position is well maintained and the condition is indeed very safe,” Wahyudi explained.
Then, specifically for avtur fuel, the stock resilience reaches 28.1 days with national stock reaching 388,626 KL and daily consumption reaching 13,816 KL. “So we can conclude that the national BBM stock resilience is in a safe condition,” Wahyudi concluded.
