President Prabowo Subianto has stressed the importance of resolving every dispute through dialogue and diplomacy amid ever-evolving global dynamics. He made the statement following a Leaders’ Retreat with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday (6/7).

According to Prabowo, the stance of prioritising peace is a shared view among ASEAN countries. He emphasised that the approach of dialogue must be a core principle, not only limited to the Southeast Asian region but also in addressing various conflicts in other parts of the world.

"We affirm that ASEAN holds the view that every dispute must be resolved peacefully through dialogue and diplomacy. Not only in our region, but in all regions," Prabowo said during a joint press conference with PM Lawrence Wong.

In addition to discussing peace issues, the two leaders also exchanged views on various global and regional challenges that directly impact the lives of people in the region. Prabowo assessed that the mutual understanding reached in this meeting serves as a strong foundation for the strategic partnership between the two countries in the future.

This meeting also became an important momentum ahead of the 60th anniversary of Indonesia-Singapore diplomatic relations next year. Prabowo expressed hope that this historical milestone would strengthen bilateral cooperation that has been established for decades, ensuring it remains enduring and provides tangible benefits.

"Our discussions today are not only a response to current challenges but also prepare our partnership for the future," he added.

Concluding his statement, President Prabowo expressed appreciation for PM Lawrence Wong’s commitment to maintaining good relations between the two countries. He is optimistic that the collaboration between Indonesia and Singapore will continue to develop in order to maintain regional stability and prosperity.
