Prabowo Advises Gontor Students: Do Not Easily Trust 'Foreign Agents'

President Prabowo Subianto delivered a message to the male and female students of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor in Ponorogo, East Java. On this occasion, Prabowo described the students as the generation that will continue the struggle and serve as the successors of the nation.

“Believe that Indonesia’s future is good. Indonesia’s future is bright, and you, the students, my children, are the ones who will take over. You are the ones who will continue our struggle,” said Prabowo while attending the 100th-anniversary celebration of Pondok Gontor on Saturday, 19 September 2026.

Prabowo also urged the students not to easily trust parties he referred to as ‘foreign agents’.

“Do not trust those whom I call foreign agents. Do not trust them. They have money, they can pay buzzers, and they can manipulate social media. Be careful. Do not believe everything that appears on social media,” he further stated.

Prabow explained his reasoning for asking the students to be wary of these ‘foreign agents’. According to him, these parties are attempting to diminish the morale and self-confidence of the people.

“They want to lower our spirits. They want to lower our courage. They want to lower our self-confidence. They want us to be weak. They want us to remain poor. They want us to remain their slaves forever,” he said.

Prabowo emphasised that Indonesia must not depend on other nations and must be capable of standing on its own strength.

“We do not want to be slaves to other nations. We will become a great nation. We will stand on our own two feet,” remarked Prabowo.
