Prabowo: Advanced nations require superior domestic governance

President Prabowo Subianto has stated that Indonesia requires a superior domestic government to realise its aspirations of becoming a developed, modern, and self-reliant nation. “For a country to be strong and successful, it needs a domestic government that is superior, efficient, and disciplined,” Prabowo said during a briefing at the inauguration of the 33rd cohort of young civil servants at the Institute of Domestic Governance campus in Sumedang, West Java, on Wednesday. According to Prabowo, a domestic government that is superior, efficient, disciplined, free from corruption, and prioritises the interests of the people will lead the nation towards success, prosperity, and public welfare. He stated that these aspirations must be achieved by improving the people’s welfare, including ensuring citizens receive a decent income, education, healthcare services, and adequate housing. He added that the ambition of making Indonesia a developed country will also be the responsibility of the young civil servants who will run the government in various regions in the future. “In 25 years, some of you will become governors, perhaps some of you will stand at this podium. The future belongs to you,” Prabowo said. He asserted that the young civil servants will become the drivers of the government bureaucracy and the determinants of development success on the ground.
