Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President Prabowo Subianto has revealed his habit of waking up in the middle of the night to monitor developments in global issues through digital platforms, including YouTube.

“I sleep at 1 AM, but I wake up again at 3 AM. Why? This is the issue with technology, right? There’s YouTube,” said Prabowo in ‘President Prabowo Answers’, which aired on YouTube, quoted on Tuesday (31/3/2026).

He emphasised that as head of state, he needs to continuously update himself on global information, especially given the time differences between world regions.

“I have to know the latest developments that have occurred. We are 4 hours different from the Middle East, then several hours from America. So I have to follow what is happening. And that is probably what keeps me always a bit up to date,” he explained.

Prabowo also recounted his experience while attending an international forum in Singapore. He admitted to monitoring the latest developments from the United States in the early hours of local time.

“I remember at that time I was in Singapore, the Shangri-La Dialogue. Because I have the habit of waking up at 3 AM, I opened YouTube. 3 AM in Singapore is, if I’m not mistaken, around 3 PM in Washington D.C.,” he said.

According to him, at that time President Joe Biden had just made a statement regarding the Middle East issue.

“If I’m not mistaken, at that time President Biden had just said something about Palestine or whatever. Because I read it right away, when it was my turn to speak at 9-10 AM, I was the first to give my response to Biden’s speech,” added Prabowo.

In addition to his habit of monitoring global information on YouTube, Prabowo also revealed his flexible sleep pattern, which he says was formed since his military career.

“So maybe this is knowledge I got from the army. For me, for example, if I’m in a car I can sleep, in a helicopter I can sleep, in a plane I can sleep,” he said.

He also admitted to being accustomed to utilising short intervals between schedules for a brief rest.

“For me, 15 minutes to recharge like that, especially 20 minutes. My ideal is actually 30 minutes,” said Prabowo.
