Prabowo Adds Deputy for National Preparedness and Counter-Radicalisation to BNPT
President Prabowo Subianto has restructured the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT). The new structure includes the addition of a Deputy for National Preparedness and Counter-Radicalisation.
According to detikcom on Monday (4/5/2026), the new structure is outlined in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 9 of 2026 on the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT). This regulation was signed by Prabowo on 9 February 2026.
The new BNPT structure is set forth in Article 7, which includes the Head, Main Secretariat, Deputy for National Preparedness and Counter-Radicalisation, Deputy for Deradicalisation, Deputy for Coordination Among Law Enforcement and Victim Recovery, and Deputy for International Cooperation.
Under the regulation, the Deputy for National Preparedness and Counter-Radicalisation is responsible for formulating, coordinating, and implementing national policies, strategies, and programmes for countering terrorism in the areas of national preparedness and counter-radicalisation.
Article 15 details the functions of the Deputy for National Preparedness and Counter-Radicalisation, including:
Formulating national policies, strategies, and programmes for countering terrorism in national preparedness and counter-radicalisation.
Coordinating and synchronising the implementation of preparations for national preparedness and counter-radicalisation.
Developing standardisation of counter-terrorism policies in counter-radicalisation.
Coordinating and implementing community empowerment programmes in national preparedness.
Coordinating the implementation of protection and enhancement programmes for facilities and infrastructure in national preparedness.
Formulating information systems for areas vulnerable to radical terrorist ideologies and determining parameters and classifications of vulnerability levels.
Providing technical guidance and supervision for counter-terrorism in counter-radicalisation.
Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on counter-terrorism in national preparedness and counter-radicalisation, and performing other functions assigned by the Head.
Meanwhile, the Deputy for Deradicalisation is responsible for formulating, coordinating, and implementing national policies, strategies, and programmes for countering terrorism in deradicalisation.
The Deputy for Coordination Among Law Enforcement and Victim Recovery is responsible for formulating policies and coordinating among law enforcement in countering terrorism, as well as programmes for recovering victims of terrorism crimes.
The Deputy for International Cooperation is responsible for formulating, coordinating, and implementing national policies, strategies, and programmes for countering terrorism in international cooperation.
