Prabowo Adds 13 New Flagship Projects Valued at Rp239 Trillion
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has instructed the acceleration of commodity downstreaming to strengthen national natural resource management. This effort will be bolstered by the introduction of 13 new downstreaming projects with projected investments exceeding Rp239 trillion.
This news was conveyed by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, during a limited meeting in Hambalang on Wednesday (25/3/2026). On that occasion, Bahlil reported the overall progress of the downstreaming programme directly to the Head of State.
He stated that President Prabowo requested a report on the development of the downstreaming programme in Indonesia.
During the meeting, Bahlil revealed the addition of these 13 new downstreaming projects, which are currently in the finalisation stage. These projects are additions beyond the previously running downstreaming programmes.
“We are adding another 13 downstreaming items with a total investment of approximately Rp239 trillion, and we will discuss their finalisation,” Bahlil said after the meeting in Hambalang.
Meanwhile, in the initial downstreaming phase, there are 20 projects, some of which have already entered the groundbreaking stage, with the rest scheduled to begin construction soon.
“The first phase with 20 items, some have already undergone groundbreaking, and others will have groundbreaking next month,” he said.
Not only downstreaming, the government also discussed the development of alternative energy to support national energy resilience and self-sufficiency.
According to Bahlil, Prabowo instructed the optimisation of all domestic energy potentials. From bioethanol and biodiesel to accelerating the transition to new renewable energy (EBT).
“The President has ordered the optimisation of all energy potentials we have, whether ethanol, biodiesel from CPO, including how we can push the energy transition through new renewable energy,” he said.
