Prabowo Adds 13 Downstream Projects Worth Rp239 Trillion

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, revealed special directives from President Prabowo Subianto regarding the acceleration of downstream processing and the management of natural resources (SDA). This was stated by Bahlil after a limited meeting with the President in Hambalang, Bogor, on Wednesday (25/3/2026). He explained that Prabowo requested a report on the progress of the downstream processing programme. In the meeting, Bahlil disclosed the addition of 13 new downstream projects with a total investment value of around Rp239 trillion, which are currently in the finalisation stage. These projects are additions beyond the previously ongoing downstream programmes. “We are adding another 13 downstream items with a total investment of approximately Rp239 trillion, and we will discuss the finalisation,” said Bahlil after the meeting in Hambalang, quoted on Thursday (26/3/2026). Meanwhile, in the initial downstream stage, there are 20 projects, some of which have entered the groundbreaking phase, and the rest are scheduled to begin construction in the near future. “The first stage with 20 items, some have already undergone groundbreaking, and some more will have groundbreaking next month,” he said. Not only downstream processing, the government also discussed the development of alternative energy to support national energy resilience and self-sufficiency. According to Bahlil, Prabowo instructed the optimisation of all domestic energy potentials. From bioethanol and biodiesel to accelerating the transition to new renewable energy (EBT). “The President has ordered us to optimise all the energy potentials we have, whether ethanol, biodiesel from CPO-CPO, including how we push for the energy transition through new renewable energy that we can also carry out,” he said.
