Prabowo Acknowledges Some Officials Still Disappointing the Nation: This Must Be Admitted

President Prabowo Subianto recognises that Indonesia continues to face various obstacles and shortcomings in the conduct of government. According to him, many of these problems stem from the performance of a number of officials and bureaucrats who have not fully discharged their responsibilities properly.

“Brothers and sisters, we recognise that this nation still faces many obstacles, many difficulties, many shortcomings. These shortcomings are actually shortcomings of the officials, the bureaucrats, the personnel,” said Prabowo during the virtual inauguration of 218 bridges, as seen on the YouTube channel of the Presidential Secretariat, Monday (9 March 2026).

Nevertheless, Prabowo expressed appreciation for the many officials and personnel in the field whom he considered to be working with outstanding dedication to serve the public. However, on the other hand, Prabowo acknowledged that there are still some leadership elements that are disappointing in carrying out their responsibilities.

“On one hand, many personnel work extraordinarily well; on the other hand, there are still certain leadership elements that are disappointing in terms of responsibility to the nation and country,” he said.

Prabowo believed that this condition must be acknowledged openly so as to serve as material for collective evaluation. According to him, the government must not only convey positive matters without acknowledging existing shortcomings.

“This must be acknowledged. Let us not always speak only of good things, of sweet-sounding words,” he said.
