Prabowo Acknowledges Many Problems with the MBG Programme, Will Remove Deviant Officials

President Prabowo Subianto acknowledged that the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme still faces various problems in its implementation. Therefore, he is determined to address these issues.

“There are many problems, yes. There are many challenges, that’s right. The MBG has many problems; we must address them,” said Prabowo during the inauguration of the Merah Putih Kopdes in Nganjuk, East Java, on Saturday, 16 May 2026.

The Head of State said that the various challenges in the MBG programme must be addressed openly, including the issue of integrity among some individuals involved in managing the programme.

Prabowo emphasised that he would not hesitate to take action against anyone who needs to be removed from their position.

“As Indonesians, we understand our weaknesses; we must be brave enough to face them, we must be brave enough to talk about the fact that many of our leaders have weak hearts, weak integrity, and weak faith. When dealing with money, they forget, but I have said that my government will not hesitate. Anyone who violates, deviates, or abuses their authority will be addressed, cleaned up, and removed from their position,” Prabowo said.

Despite the problems, Prabowo believes that the MBG remains an important programme for the community. He said that he often receives direct complaints from residents who hope that the programme will continue because it helps meet the food needs of their families.

“The MBG is so important for our nation. Everywhere I go, I meet ordinary people, farmers, who say,”Sir, please don’t stop the MBG. It really helps my grandchildren eat, it really helps me, it really helps my family,“” Prabowo said.
