Prabowo: 11th EEF holds great potential to serve as a bridge for regional cooperation

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, stated that he felt honoured to be invited to attend the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), noting that the forum presents an opportunity to bridge regional cooperation.

“Once again, we feel honoured to participate in the 1th Eastern Economic Forum. This forum holds great potential to serve as a bridge for cooperation and connectivity in our region,” said President Prabowo during a luncheon with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday.

During the luncheon, which was monitored online from Jakarta on Thursday, President Prabowo highlighted the partnership between the two nations that has spanned more than five decades, affirming that Russia remains an important partner for Indonesia.

The Head of State also noted that the relationship between Indonesia and Russia has reached the level of a strategic partnership, and Indonesia continues to strive to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation for both parties.

“Indonesia continues to strive to further increase cooperation in all fields to achieve benefits for both our countries,” said Prabowo.

On the same occasion, President Putin expressed his gratitude to President Prabowo for being willing to visit Vladivostok and participate in the 11th EEF as an honoured guest.

“Indonesia is a key partner for Russia in the Asia-Pacific region. We are linked by a relationship of friendship spanning many years,” said Putin.

Putin mentioned several improvements in the relationship between the two nations, including a 12 per cent increase in trade volume last year. He also noted bilateral cooperation in agriculture, technology, and energy, specifically in the nuclear sector.

Previously, President Prabowo arrived at Vladivostok International Airport, Russia, on Wednesday (2/9) to attend the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) as a primary guest of honour.

President Prabowo’s presence in Vladivostok is part of an effort to strengthen the growing relationship between Indonesia and Russia across various sectors.

The President’s visit to Vladivostok also serves as a momentum to expand cooperation between Indonesia and Russia, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, investment, and other potential sectors.
