PPU Regent Summoned Again by KPK Over Coal Gratuity Case

Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators have once again summoned Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) Regent Mudyat Noor as a witness in a suspected gratuity case involving a fee per metric tonne of coal production in Kutai Kartanegara Regency (Kukar), East Kalimantan. Responding to the summons, Mudyat Noor confirmed to Media Indonesia on Wednesday evening that he had recently complied with the investigators’ request. However, he explained that during his time at the KPK’s Red and White building, the investigators did not pose any questions, as the session only involved amendments. He was present at the office for approximately 15 to 30 minutes. “It was just corrections, because there was a change in the title from initially suspect Rita Widyasari to now a corporate entity suspected of being affiliated with Mrs Rita,” he stated. Noor added that due to this change, the KPK had to reprint documents for re-signing, and the process has since been completed. He also acknowledged that a media outlet had previously reported his status as a suspect, but the matter has been clarified and the outlet has since published a correction. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo previously stated that on Tuesday, 21 July 2026, the investigative team summoned Mudyat Noor as a witness for a corporate suspect, with the examination held at the KPK’s Red and White building. Budi noted that in addition to Noor, investigators also summoned several other witnesses, including Atang, a private sector worker, Wilfred Imanuel Adisulung Singkali, an employee of a state-owned enterprise, and Warih, a housewife. “Witness Wilfred was examined as a witness for suspect Rita Widyasari, the former Regent of Kukar,” he concluded.
