PPU Police Dismantle Methamphetamine Distribution Ring, Seize 12 Drug Packets
The Narcotics Unit of the Penajam Pasermu Utara (PPU) District Police successfully apprehended a group of three men involved in the distribution of Class 1 narcotics (methamphetamine) during an operation in the Penajam District. The police also seized 12 packets of methamphetamine prepared for distribution.
PPU Police Chief, AKBP Andreas Alek Danantara, through the Head of the Narcotics Unit, IPTU Gede Wijaya, confirmed the disclosure on Monday (6/7). The incident began following reports from the community regarding suspected narcotics transactions in a room at the Silkar Indah guesthouse, Girimukti Village, Penajam District.
The three suspects identified are DB (18), a resident of Sesumpu; HK (23), a resident of Kampung Baru; and RF (25), also from Kampung Baru.
Following the information, the PPU Police Narcotics Unit moved quickly to conduct investigations and surveillance at the suspected location. After confirming the intelligence, officers conducted a raid on the room at approximately 01:30 WITA.
“From within the guesthouse room, the police secured a man with the initials DB. During the search, officers found two packets of methamphetamine weighing approximately 0.42 grams, along with clear plastic clips,” he explained.
Additionally, cash amounting to Rp400,000, suspected to be proceeds from narcotics transactions, was seized, along with a mobile phone believed to have been used as a communication tool for the drug distribution activities.
Based on the initial examination of DB, it was revealed that the drugs were obtained from another suspect, HK (23). Following DB’s confession, investigators expanded their investigation and successfully arrested HK in the guesthouse parking area.
“From the interrogation of HK, he admitted to possessing more methamphetamine stored in his house,” said Gained.
Upon receiving HK’s confession, the operational team proceeded to the suspect’s house and conducted a search witnessed by several bystanders. The search yielded ten packets of methamphetamine ready for distribution, weighing approximately 1.82 grams.
“We also obtained other evidence, including five clear plastic clips, a small shovel made from a plastic straw believed to be used for packaging, a wallet, and storage packaging for the evidence,” he added.
Further investigation into suspects DB and HK led to the identification of RF, who is strongly suspected of being involved in the network. The team successfully apprehended RF at his home in Kampung Baru. Officers seized a mobile phone believed to be used for communication during the illegal activities.
In total, the operation resulted in the seizure of 12 packets of methamphetamine with a gross weight of approximately 2.24 grams, along with transaction cash, packaging materials, and two mobile phones.
“All suspects and evidence have been secured at the PPU Police Headquarters for further investigation,” he stated.
He emphasised that this success demonstrates the PPU Police’s commitment to combating the illegal drug trade, which poses a real threat to the younger generation and public security. He also praised the community’s role in providing the necessary information.
“We appreciate the public’s participation in bravely providing information. The PPU Police will continue to increase preventive, pre-emptive, and repressive efforts to suppress illegal drug trafficking within our jurisdiction,” Gede said.
The suspects face charges under Article 114 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) and/or Article 112 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
Investigators are continuing to develop the case to uncover any other potential networks linked to drug trafficking in the PPU Regency.
