PPSU Uses AI for Illegal Parking Reports, Legislator: Bad Action
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Kevin Wu, stated that the use of artificial intelligence or AI to handle reports of illegal parking in the Jakarta Kini (JAKI) app constitutes a bad action and an attempt to deceive the public. “Technology should be used as a convenience, not to deceive the public,” said Kevin Wu in Jakarta on Tuesday, in response to the case of public facility and infrastructure handling officers (PPSU) uploading photos generated by artificial intelligence (AI) in reports on handling illegal parking in the JAKI app. According to him, the actions taken by the officers set a bad precedent and need to be firmly addressed to serve as a lesson for other officers. Kevin also expressed regret over the incident because it represents a misuse of technology, whereas when technology is used properly, the results will be good, and vice versa. In addition, he considers the actions of the irresponsible rogue officers as a form of ‘just to please the boss’ (ABS) behaviour and has a long-term negative impact on the professionalism of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov). “I feel concerned and very sorry that there is misuse of a technology application that should be productive for work but is abused like this,” he said. Kevin also emphasised that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government must learn from the incident. AI is an important technology that must be used to help Jakarta residents solve problems. Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo asked his staff to find the perpetrators who created and uploaded the artificial intelligence (AI)-generated photos in the illegal parking handling report in the Jakarta Kini (JAKI) app. “If we blame the PPSU, we can’t either; the PPSU is definitely not the one who did or manipulated the AI. What I ask is to investigate deeply, find out who did it and then uploaded it,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday. Although the Kalisari Sub-district Head has apologised, the inspectorate must still delve into the case. Because Pramono does not want similar incidents to happen again in the future.
