Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Mayor of East Jakarta, Munjirin, gathered all staff from Kalisari Sub-District and Pasar Rebo Sub-District for a closed-door meeting regarding the viral use of artificial intelligence (AI) by a Public Facilities and Infrastructure Handling Officer (PPSU) in responding to a resident’s report.

In the meeting, Munjirin instructed all his subordinates to handle every resident’s report through the Jakarta Kini (JAKI) application in a real manner and not to use artificial intelligence (AI).

“Every report must be handled accountably and transparently,” said Munjirin at the East Jakarta Mayor’s Office on Monday.

The impact of the PPSU officer’s performance using AI is very significant. Moreover, internet users (netizens) are urging that the PPSU officer be immediately dismissed from their job.

“Don’t fool around anymore; this is a concern for all of us (East Jakarta City Government officials). According to them, this is a small matter, but the impact is quite large,” stated Munjirin.

Previously, the Head of the Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Agency (Diskominfotik) of DKI Jakarta, Budi Awaluddin, stated that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has issued a written reprimand to Kalisari Sub-District, which is indicated to have falsified evidence of follow-up on public complaints, namely by using AI-generated photos.

“The Bureau of Government acknowledges an error in the validation process. To date, no evidence of follow-up on complaints using AI-engineered photos has ever been found,” he said.

The corrective actions taken by the DKI Provincial Government include re-entering the public complaint and subsequently directing it to the Transportation Agency as the authority for parking matters.

Furthermore, issuing a Circular from the Regional Secretary prohibiting the use of AI in submitting evidence of complaint follow-up, while reminding all Regional Work Units (OPD)/Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) to resolve complaints properly and correctly.

Other efforts include providing specific guidance in a Townhall Meeting regarding handling repeated complaints and coordinating with the Inspectorate to design sanctions for OPD/BUMD proven to have falsified follow-up evidence.

A viral social media post showed a PPSU officer using AI technology in responding to a resident’s report regarding illegal parking on Jalan Damai, Kalisari Sub-District, Pasar Rebo Sub-District, East Jakarta.

In the post, the PPSU officer wearing an orange uniform was seen handling the situation at the location.

However, after an AI-based process, the visual appearance of the officer underwent changes, including differences in clothing attributes and the disappearance of several vehicles in the processed image.

The stark differences between the actual conditions and the AI visualisations are what triggered strong reactions from the public.

Internet users (netizens) view this action as a form of data manipulation and does not reflect the actual field conditions.

This case has become a serious concern for the East Jakarta City Government. In addition to internal coaching, an evaluation of PPSU work procedures will also be conducted to prevent similar incidents from recurring in the future.
