JAKARTA — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has emphasised that PPSU officers are not to be unfairly blamed in the case of alleged artificial intelligence (AI)-based photo manipulation in the Jakarta Kini (JAKI) application.

Behind the viral citizen report, he called for all relevant parties to be investigated fairly, without pointing fingers at those merely carrying out field duties.

“If we then blame the PPSU, that’s not possible; the PPSU personnel certainly aren’t the ones who carried out or manipulated the AI,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (7/4/2026).

“Now, the Inspectorate is conducting a thorough investigation, including with the Kalisari village head, the PPSU, and the sub-district office. Everything will eventually come to light,” he added.

Previously, Kalisari Village Head Siti Nurhasanah admitted to the upload of a follow-up photo for a citizen report that was suspected to be AI-generated.

The involved PPSU officers have been given a first warning sanction (SP1) and promised not to repeat the action.

She explained that the officers were following up on a citizen report regarding illegal parking submitted via JAKI.

However, in the process, the uploaded photo was suspected to be AI-generated.

Normally, handling illegal parking is carried out jointly by Satpol PP or PPSU.

This incident occurred because reports forwarded to the Transportation Sub-District Office are often returned to the village.

Although the Kalisari Village Head has issued an apology, Pramono stressed that the examination process continues.

The DKI Jakarta Inspectorate is now tracing the village head, PPSU, and the relevant sub-district office to ensure the perpetrator of the AI photo manipulation is identified and such incidents do not recur.
