PPP Secretary-General Taj Yasin Cancels NTB Leadership Decree, Muzhir Says It Is Invalid

The leadership dispute within the National Unity Development Party (PPP) in Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) has heated up. PPP Secretary-General Taj Yasin Maimoen annulled the NTB Regional Leadership Council (DPW) for the 2026-2031 period, led by Muzhir together with Siti Ari. But Muzhir immediately refuted it, saying the letter was not organisationally valid. The annulment is contained in an official letter from the DPP PPP numbered 011/Ex/DPP/V/2026, signed by Taj Yasin Maimoen. The letter was addressed to the Speaker of the NTB Regional House of Representatives (DPRD NTB) and copied to the NTB Governor and the DPW PPP NTB. In the letter, the DPP PPP declared the Muswil formerly held by DPW PPP NTB to be null and void by operation of law. The DPP PPP also revoked the DPW PPP NTB leadership SK for the 2026-2031 period because it was not signed by the DPP PPP Secretary-General. The notice was sent on 10 May 2026. Moreover, Taj Yasin stated that if any party purports to act as the DPW PPP NTB leadership for the 2026-2021 period (note: 2026-2031 in original), with an SK not signed by the Chairman and the DPP PPP Secretary-General, such leadership would be invalid by law. The DPP also asserted that until a new valid SK is issued and signed by the Chairman and Secretary-General, the DPW PPP NTB leadership for the 2021-2026 period remains in effect. “Thus, the current PPP NTB leadership position remains with Muzhir as Chairman of the DPW PPP NTB and Muhammad Akri as Secretary, based on the 2021-2026 SK,” Taj Yasin wrote in a letter received by detikBali on Thursday, 21 May 2026. Muzhir rejected the annulment of the Muswil results that named him Chairman of the DPW PPP NTB alongside DPW NTB Secretary Siti Ari. He said the letter signed by Taj Yasin did not meet the requirements of an organisational decision. According to Muzhir, the DPW PPP NTB leadership led by him and Siti Ari remains organisationally valid as it relies on a Government-recognised SK from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. “I want to set the record straight. There is no such thing as dismissal. I don’t want to call it a decision letter, because I believe it does not meet the elements of an official organisational document,” he asserted at the DPW PPP NTB office on Thursday afternoon (21 May 2026). The Deputy Speaker of the NTB DPRD argued that strategic party decisions cannot be made unilaterally by the Secretary-General. Nationally, the official PPP leadership is under Chairman Mardiono. “So all organisational policies must conform to the party AD/ART and the law. Therefore Secretary-General Taj Yasin has no prerogative in the organisation,” he said. Muzhir also argued that Taj Yasin does not have sole authority to set strategic organisational policy. He said the prerogative rests with the Chairman. “The Secretary-General’s role is administrative and to assist the implementation of organisational policy. So a letter signed only by the Secretary-General without the Chairman’s signature does not meet the requirements for an organisational decision and is invalid,” he added alongside DPW Deputy Chairman Siti Ari. In political organisational practice, the official SKs must be signed by both the Chairman and the Secretary-General (or other equivalent titles such as Deputy Secretary-General). Hence, the DPW PPP NTB questions the legal basis of the letter. “We emphasise that the previous DPW PPP NTB administration ended in April 2026. The current legitimate leadership is led by Chairman Muzhir and Secretary Siti Ari,” he said. Muzhir also said that Letter No. 011/Ex/DPP/V/2026, signed only by the DPP PPP Secretary-General, lacks full organisational legal force. He described the letter as more of a personal memo than a party decision, since it uses “I” instead of the institution of the party. “In essence, we in the DPW PPP NTB call on all cadres to stay calm and maintain party solidarity.
