Internal conflict within the United Development Party (PPP) has re-emerged. Several regional leadership council (DPW) officials across Indonesia have urged PPP Chairman Muhamad Mardiono to evaluate and replace Secretary General Taj Yasin Maimoen.

The demands surfaced during a national coordination meeting held online on Thursday (16 April 2026).

The forum, attended by DPW chairmen and secretaries nationwide, initially discussed preparations for branch congresses (muscab) but evolved into a platform for criticising the Secretary General’s performance.

“Since the Minister of Law and Human Rights’ decree was issued until now, there has been no discussion regarding party interests. Instead, there has been more talk about personal interests, and this has been going on for about six months. This is not normal in an organisation,” said Saiful in his statement on Friday (17 April 2026).

He also assessed that the Secretary General has not carried out functions as stipulated in the party’s articles of association and bylaws (AD/ART).

“In the AD/ART, the Secretary General has the function of implementing organisational governance. However, the opposite has occurred. This is a form of resistance against the organisation, so decisive action is needed immediately, including replacement,” he emphasised.

“We fully support the central board in evaluating cadres who are not working. The issue of the Secretary General must be resolved immediately so as not to disrupt the party’s performance,” said Mulyadi.

Secretary of the PPP DPW for West Kalimantan, Eka Candra, also stressed the importance of accelerating consolidation ahead of political agendas.

“We agree that the Secretary General should be replaced immediately. We cannot wait too long because political consolidation must continue,” said Eka Candra.

Not only demanding replacement, the turmoil within PPP is also marked by plans for legal action from regional cadres. Several DPWs have even issued a vote of no confidence against Taj Yasin and Deputy Chairman Agus Suparmanto.

Chairman of the PPP DPW for Southeast Sulawesi, Rachmawati Badallah, stated that her group, along with other cadres, is preparing a civil lawsuit.

“The current regional chairmen are preparing a civil lawsuit against Taj Yasin as Secretary General and Agus Suparmanto. This is an accumulation of regional disappointment over the emergence of letters that have only caused uproar within the party,” said Rachmawati in her statement on Saturday (18 April 2026).
