PPP Inaugurates Gorontalo Provincial Board Leadership, Mardiono Optimistic About Securing DPR Seat in 2029
The National Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP), Muhamad Mardiono, inaugurated the provincial board (DPW) leadership of PPP Gorontalo. The inauguration marked an initial step in party consolidation in preparation for upcoming political agenda, including the 2029 general elections.
Mardiono stated that following this inauguration, PPP Gorontalo would continue its organisational agenda by holding branch consultations (muscab) across all regencies and municipalities.
“This is already one harmonious step in our struggle. After this we will continue with branch consultations across all regencies and municipalities in Gorontalo, targeted to be completed within three months in accordance with the party’s constitution and bylaws,” Mardiono said in a written statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
According to Mardiono, this organisational consolidation was also part of the party’s transformation efforts to face forthcoming political challenges, including reaching younger voters such as millennials and Generation Z voters in the 2029 general elections.
Furthermore, Mardiono hoped that the new leadership would enable PPP to regain parliamentary representation in the national parliament from Gorontalo.
“Our hope is that under the leadership of Ismet, Gorontalo can once again have a representative in the national parliament in the 2029 general elections,” he said.
Meanwhile, the newly inaugurated Chairperson of the PPP Gorontalo Provincial Board, Ismet Mile, stated his readiness to carry out the party’s mandate and strengthen consolidation down to the regional level.
He emphasised that one of the main targets of his leadership was to bring a PPP cadre from Gorontalo to sit in the national parliament in the 2029 general elections.
“Our main target is to produce a member of the national parliament from Gorontalo through PPP,” said Ismet, who is also a former Golkar cadre.
The inauguration was also attended by Gorontalo Governor Gusnar Ismail. In his remarks, he expressed hopes that the new leadership would be capable of strengthening PPP’s role in regional development.
According to Gusnar, with the inauguration of Ismet Mile as Chair of the PPP Gorontalo Provincial Board, the continuity and sustainability of the party in the region is believed to be maintained.
“With the inauguration of Ismet Mile, I am confident that the continuity and sustainability of PPP in Gorontalo will be maintained. This inauguration is an important turning point for PPP to continue its service to the community while facing forthcoming political agenda,” Gusnar said.
