PPP Elite Reported by Cadre to Metro Jaya Police Over Alleged Forgery

Two senior figures of the United Development Party (PPP), with the initials TY and AS, were reported by a party cadre to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police over alleged forgery on Friday (12/6). The report is contained in two police reports. The first report against TY concerns the alleged forgery of documents and stamps, while the second report against AS relates to the forgery of a Party Membership Card. “Today there are two complainants, one reporting the alleged forgery of a membership card, the other reporting the alleged forgery of documents,” said Dal Lyckhen, lawyer for the Chairman of PPP’s South Jakarta Branch Executive Council, at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police on Friday. Lyckhen explained that the allegedly fake membership card was linked to document forgery that supposedly did not follow the party’s organisational procedures or regulations. “The first reported party has the initials AS, the second has the initials TY,” he said. Meanwhile, HM Nasir, Chairman of PPP’s South Jakarta Branch Executive Council and the complainant, explained that the report was filed because he felt there were irregularities concerning the issuance of the membership card for AS. “Regarding the membership card, we from the South Jakarta Branch Executive Council have never received any reports or made any recommendations for that card. Therefore, we need to investigate this from the provincial level up to the Central Executive Board,” he said. Nasir stated that as a result of the alleged forgery of documents and the membership card, his side felt harmed. Consequently, they decided to take legal action by filing a police report. “It is indicated that we did not issue it. The suspicion of forgery has made the party’s situation increasingly uncertain, because they are conducting activities outside our Central Executive Board office environment. That is what causes our concern from the grassroots level,” he said.
