JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The United Development Party (PPP) has responded positively to the proposal from Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Services Yusril Ihza Mahendra regarding adjusting the parliamentary threshold in line with the number of DPR working bodies (AKD).

PPP considers this thinking to be an effective solution or “middle path” amid the variety of proposals currently emerging in the public sphere.

“I think Mr Yusril’s statement and proposal are interesting, and this thinking should be taken as a middle path from the various proposals and alternatives that have so far surfaced and developed in the public,” said PPP spokesperson Rusman Yakob to Kompas.com on Monday (4/5/2026).

This is because the proposal is deemed more logical to apply in Indonesia’s future democratic system.

“It seems this thinking is more fitting and suitable because our experience so far has seen many societal political aspirations from election results that are not accommodated or wasted due to failing to meet the established threshold,” he said.

The proposal has received varied responses from parties, but almost all non-parliamentary parties support Yusril’s proposal.
