Regional cadres of the United Development Party (PPP) are increasingly furious with the General Secretary of the PPP Central Board, Taj Yasin, and Deputy General Chairman Agus Suparmanto. This follows the controversy surrounding the Secretary General and Deputy Chairman’s inactivity, as well as party letters that are seen as causing unrest and regarded as sabotage against the organisation’s operations.

The Chair of the PPP Provincial Board for Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra), Rachmawati Badallah, stated that her group, along with several regional cadres, is preparing legal action in the form of a civil lawsuit against Taj Yasin and Agus Suparmanto.

She emphasised that this step is taken in response to the party’s internal dynamics, where the inactivity and attitudes displayed by Taj Yasin and Agus Suparmanto are deemed to disrupt organisational stability and trigger widespread disappointment at the regional level.

“Regional chairs are currently preparing a civil lawsuit against Taj Yasin as Secretary General and Agus Suparmanto. This is an accumulation of regional disappointment over the emergence of letters that instead cause unrest within the party,” said Rachmawati on Saturday (18/4/2026).

She explained that the lawsuit process is still in the maturation stage by the legal team representing PPP Provincial Boards across Indonesia. Coordination is ongoing to ensure the legal action has a strong foundation before being officially registered with the court.

“The legal team is working, and in the near future, the lawsuit will be filed soon. This is not a spontaneous step, but one that has been thoroughly discussed with all regional representatives,” she said.

She added that the lawsuit will be filed in two courts according to the respective parties’ domiciles.

“The lawsuit against Taj Yasin will be filed at the Semarang District Court, while for Agus Suparmanto, it will be submitted to the South Jakarta District Court,” she added.

In addition to pursuing legal channels, regional cadres are also urging PPP General Chairman Muhamad Mardiono to take firm action by immediately dismissing Taj Yasin from his position as Secretary General. They believe that leadership in that position needs to be filled by someone more capable of maintaining organisational solidarity and performance.

This demand aligns with the results of the National Coordination Meeting held on Thursday (16/4), where regional chairs and secretaries agreed on the need to evaluate cadres deemed inactive or not optimal in carrying out their duties, in line with previous recommendations from the National Congress.

“This certainly cannot be allowed to continue, as it is feared to affect public trust in the party,” Rachmawati concluded.
