Zulkifli Sitorus, Chairman of the Medan Departure Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH) in North Sumatra (Sumut), stated that 360 pilgrims from Group 1 of the Medan Departure are scheduled to return to Indonesia early Tuesday (2 June). “Group 1 of the Medan Departure is scheduled to land at Kualanamu International Airport in Deli Serdang on Tuesday (2 June) at 03:15 WIB,” Zulkifli said at the Medan Hajj Asrama on Monday. Of the 360 pilgrims from North Sumatra, he added, 223 are from Binjai City, 131 from Medan City, and six crew members. The crew members comprise Indonesia’s Hajj Guidance Team (TPHI), Hajj Worship Guidance Team (TPIHI), medical staff, and Local Hajj Officers (PHD). “As the group lands at Kualanamu at 03:15 WIB, it will take two hours for passengers to disembark and travel by Damri bus to the Hajj Asrama,” Zulkifli explained. PPIH Medan data shows that a total of 5,972 North Sumatran pilgrims will return via Kualanamu International Airport between 2 and 21 June 2026. Garuda Indonesia Medan Branch Manager Bobby Pratama Saragih stated his company has an internal team continuously monitoring this year’s Hajj flight services. The company also conducted an evaluation of the departure phase for 5,972 North Sumatran pilgrims, which concluded on 11 May 2026. “We hope the second phase (return) will be smoother. Any issues encountered in the first phase can be addressed in the second,” Bobby said.
