PPIH Health Officials Intensify Education for Hajj Pilgrims to Face Hot Weather
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Health officials from the Saudi Arabian Hajj Organising Committee for Indonesians (PPIH) are intensifying education and the distribution of health equipment to Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to prepare for extreme hot weather in the Holy Land. Amidst packed worship activities, the officials are actively providing direct education to pilgrims, particularly regarding the prevention of heat weather impacts such as dehydration and fatigue from sun exposure. “The temperature in Madinah is around 34 to 35 (degrees Celsius), so it’s hot. Pilgrims are advised to wear masks during the daytime,” said PPIH health official in Madinah, Siti Ratna, quoted from a recording received by the reporter on Saturday. “The advice for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims is to use personal protective equipment, masks, facial sprayers, and sandals,” she added. In addition to education, officials are also distributing masks and oralit to pilgrims as preventive measures. Masks are used to protect from dust and hot air, while oralit helps maintain bodily fluid balance. The distribution of health equipment is carried out at several strategic points, especially in the Masjid Nabawi area, which is the centre of pilgrims’ worship activities. Through these efforts, it is hoped that Indonesian Hajj pilgrims can carry out their worship more safely and comfortably, and avoid health risks amid extreme weather conditions.
