PPIH Deploy Mina Special Team to Ensure Indonesian Pilgrims Are Safe at Hajj Peak

Jeddah, KOMPAS.com – The Hajj Organising Authority (PPIH) in Saudi Arabia has prepared a Mina Special Team (Timsus Mina) to accompany Indonesian pilgrims during the peak of the pilgrimage. The team is tasked with providing assistance and protection, particularly for elderly groups or those who are ill. The Coordinator of the Ar-Rafah, Muzdalifah and Mina Operational Unit (Satop Armuzna) and Head of Pilgrim Protection for PPIH Saudi Arabia, Harun Arrasyid Usman, stressed that all Timsus personnel are members of the Pilgrim Protection (Linjam) who have at least one prior Hajj operation experience. ‘These colleagues were dispatched on the night of 8 Zulhijjah and went straight to Mina without passing through Arafah. With this arrangement, their staff are considered fresh to provide maximum assistance when pilgrims arrive,’ Harun said after inspecting the Mina–Jamarat movement routes on Tuesday (19 May 2026). Their duties include reception, supervision, and monitoring pilgrim flow. This applies to groups coming from Muzdalifah to Jamrat Aqabah, as well as pilgrims merely passing from Arafah (murur scheme).

The residential area is divided into 61 distinct camps, from small maktab on the lower ground to large maktab on the upper plateau. For pilgrims choosing to return to their hotels after stoning Jamrat Aqabah (tanazul scheme), PPIH plans to place them in Zone 5. The scheme is in the final stage of formulation before it is announced simultaneously.

Mina’s physical challenges cannot be underestimated, given that the go-and-return distance from tents to Jamarat, traversing the three Muaisim tunnels, is around 4.5 kilometres. To prevent congestion and maintain smooth traffic, Harun warned pilgrims to adhere to the route and not move between floors during the rites. ‘For Indonesian pilgrims staying in Mina tents, the Jamrat rites are prioritised on Floor 3. We urge after completing the stoning not to descend to the lower floor. Inquire with staff at the location for directions back to the tents, as the route will loop out and re-enter the Muaisim Tunnel,’ Harun said.

Through precise route orientation and the deployment of a fit and experienced Mina Tim, PPIH hopes that all elements of the peak Hajj rites this year can proceed safely, orderly, and efficiently.
