PPDK eyes 25 DPR seats

YOGYAKARTA: Leader of the United Democratic Nationhood Party (PPDK) Andi Mallarangeng said here on Friday that his party had a specific goal for the upcoming elections. It is eyeing 25 seats in the House of Representatives (DPR), 100 seats in the regional representatives council and 1,000 seats in regental and municipal legislatures across the nation. "We are a new party, and we do not expect much," he said after Friday prayers here in a mosque in Suryowijayan area.

He added that the party had yet to name its presidential and vice presidential hopefuls, saying that it was waiting for the right moment.

A total of 24 political parties will contest the legislative election this year, with 500 seats in the DPR and thousands of seats at regental and municipal levels up for grabs. -- JP
