The Greater Jakarta area, encompassing Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabodetabek), has been recorded as the region with the highest number of online gambling players. The Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK) has even labelled Jabodetabek as the national hub for online gambling activity.

“PPATK data for 2025 indicates a concentration of online gambling activity in several regions, with Jabodetabek being one of the largest clusters nationally,” PPATK wrote on its official Instagram account on Wednesday (24/6/2026).

According to PPATK, Jabodetabek constitutes a national red zone for online gambling. There are three areas within Jabodetabek with the highest number of online gambling players, namely:

  1. Bogor Regency: 103,092 players with deposits totalling Rp 414.4 billion

  2. West Jakarta: 89,320 players with deposits totalling Rp 600.6 billion

  3. East Jakarta: 81,750 players with deposits totalling Rp 425.9 billion.

Meanwhile, the city of Bandung ranks as the fourth area with the most online gambling players. PPATK stated there are 80,549 online gambling players in Bandung with deposits totalling Rp 341.7 billion.

“Of the 10 areas with the most players, four are from DKI Jakarta, four from West Java, and two from Banten. This forms the Jabodetabek cluster as the national hub for online gambling activity,” PPATK wrote.

PPATK also mapped the sub-districts with the highest number of online gambling players within Jabodetabek. The following are the five sub-districts with the most online gambling players:

  1. Cengkareng: 21,497 players

  2. Cakung: 14,664 players

  3. Tanjung Priok: 13,769 players

  4. Kebayoran Lama: 9,948 players

  5. North Bekasi: 7,793 players.

“This shows that online gambling is no longer a distant or abstract phenomenon,” PPATK wrote.

PPATK stated that citizens aged 20 to 30 years are the group with the highest prevalence as online gambling players, followed by the 31 to 40 age group. The majority of players are male.

“What is at stake is not just money, but also a productive future,” PPATK wrote.
