PPATK: Online Gambling Fund Turnover Under Prabowo Records First Decline
Jakarta – The Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK) has recorded a significant decline in the turnover of online gambling funds in 2025. This marks the first decrease since 2017, during which period the turnover had surged to Rp359.81 trillion. This achievement is seen as a result of President Prabowo Subianto’s firm commitment, making the eradication of online gambling a priority through synchronised efforts across ministries, agencies, and law enforcement.
Head of PPATK, Ivan Yustiavandana, revealed that PPATK data showed the value of online gambling fund turnover had continuously increased from Rp2.01 trillion in 2017 to Rp359.81 trillion in 2024. For the first time since 2017, he stated, this value dropped significantly in 2025 to Rp286.84 trillion, a 20 per cent decrease compared to the previous year. Additionally, the value of deposits also fell from Rp51.3 trillion in 2024 to Rp36.01 trillion in 2025.
“Having increased every year since 2017, the decline in the value of online gambling fund turnover in 2025 is historic. This achievement is inseparable from President Prabowo’s firmness in leading the war against online gambling and mobilising all elements of government to work in unison,” Ivan said in a statement on Friday, 24 July 2026. However, Ivan observed that online gambling activity has not subsided. In the first quarter of 2026, the turnover value reached Rp40.3 trillion, with total deposits amounting to Rp10.59 trillion.
According to him, PPATK’s analysis indicates that transaction patterns have become more frequent, more dispersed, and tend to involve smaller nominal amounts. Furthermore, Ivan noted that PPATK found a significant shift in deposit methods. Throughout 2025, the use of QRIS accounted for approximately 78.5 per cent of the total deposit frequency, or 305.33 million transactions with a nominal value of Rp19.35 trillion. Meanwhile, deposits via bank transfers and electronic wallets totalled 83.79 million transactions, or about 21.5 per cent, with a nominal value of Rp16.67 trillion.
During the first half of 2026, Ivan reported that PPATK temporarily suspended transactions on 5,762 accounts indicated to be involved in online gambling, with the total funds in these accounts reaching Rp1.07 trillion. “The results of the analysis and the temporary suspensions are conveyed to law enforcement for follow-up, including in the context of tracing and recovering criminal assets,” he explained.
