PP Tunas Takes Effect, Digital Platforms Urged to Comply with Child Access Restrictions
The government has officially implemented Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP TUNAS). This regulation requires all digital platforms to limit access to content according to age and to strengthen child personal data protection systems in cyberspace.
Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid emphasised that this policy is a firm step by the state to protect children in the digital space.
“There is no compromise on compliance. Every business entity operating in Indonesia must adhere to applicable laws,” said Meutya Hafid on Saturday (28/3).
The government has sent letters and instructions to eight platforms, namely YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, Bigo Live, and Roblox, to immediately submit commitments and action plans for compliance with the implementation of PP TUNAS.
Meutya revealed that several platforms are beginning to make adjustments and some have already shown full cooperation.
“Two platforms are fully cooperative, namely X and Bigo Live. This compliance status is dynamic. We are still waiting until tomorrow and will continue to monitor,” she stated.
Meanwhile, platforms Roblox and TikTok also demonstrate cooperative attitudes. “To both, we still request them to promptly complete compliance so it can be carried out comprehensively,” she added.
Meutya emphasised that the government is opening options for law enforcement against non-compliant platforms, including sanctions in accordance with legislation.
