JAKARTA — PP Muhammadiyah’s Treasurer Hilman Latief stated that the sacrifice ritual enhances social cohesion among communities. ‘The sacrifice ritual has a strong dimension in enhancing social cohesion and expressions of solidarity,’ said Hilman while delivering the Eid al-Adha sermon at PP Muhammadiyah’s headquarters in Central Jakarta on Wednesday. He said the story of Prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifice serves as inspiration for the annual Muslim ritual. ‘Ultimately, sacrifices in life, particularly the tradition of Qurban, are intended to achieve piety,’ he added. The sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim is a crucial lesson to do what is right before taking action, he noted. Meanwhile, PP Muhammadiyah’s Eid al-Adha 1447 H Committee Chair Pachrul Septiana announced that 20 cows will be distributed by the organisation to those in need this year. ‘This year, we received 20 cows, including those donated by the President and Vice President. Of these 20, we will distribute them to regional Muhammadiyah leaders, branches, and even sub-branches, with priority given to the Jabodetabek area,’ Pachrul said. The cows will be slaughtered at the livestock slaughterhouse (RPH) and distributed starting Thursday, 28 May.
