PP Bahrul Ulum Jombang prepares infrastructure for 35th NU Congress

Pondok Pesantren Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas, Jombang Regency, East Java, is preparing infrastructure including venues and parking areas for the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress, scheduled to take place from 27 to 31 August 2026. Chairman of the Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School Foundation, K.H. Abdurrozaq Sholeh, said a small team has been formed to follow up on the decision by the NU Executive Board (PBNU) to appoint the pesantren as host. The team is discussing technical matters related to the preparation of the congress location. ‘Alhamdulillah, we have formed a small team to follow up on PBNU’s decision to appoint us as the host of the 35th NU Congress. In terms of infrastructure, Tambakberas is very ready to welcome the arrival of around 6,000 congress participants from various regions in Indonesia,’ he said in Jombang on Wednesday. He revealed that the pesantren will provide a two-hectare plot of land for parking, which is expected to be sufficient to accommodate the vehicles of the attendees. In addition to the parking area, the pesantren is preparing several supporting facilities such as a bazaar area, rest areas, and activity locations at several points within the pesantren complex. ‘We have prepared venues at several points. There is a field area for the bazaar, rest areas, and parking. In the near future, the approximately two-hectare parking area in East Tambakberas will also be completed,’ he said. Abdurrozaq added that the main activities of the 35th NU Congress are planned to be centred at the K.H. Hasbullah Said Multipurpose Building within the Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School complex in Jombang. According to him, the building was chosen because it has a large capacity and has previously been used for a number of national-scale events. ‘The main location is at GSHS because the venue is very representative. It was previously used to welcome the 7th President and Vice President,’ Abdurrozaq said. He added that so far there are no significant obstacles in the preparation process because most of the facilities and infrastructure are already available and only require completion in a few final areas. ‘There are only a few small touches for finishing. Overall, everything is ready,’ he said.
