Power Restored in Parts of Aceh After Outage

Electricity in parts of Aceh Besar resumed around 22:29 WIB on Friday, 22 May 2026, according to detikSumut. The restoration process is ongoing and some areas remain without power.

The outage lasted more than three hours. Residents immediately used electricity to charge mobile phones and flashlights.

‘At present PLN is continuing to accelerate restoration on the generation side gradually so that electricity supply in the affected area can return to normal soon,’ said Lukman Hakim, Manager of Communications & Corporate Social Responsibility (TJSL) PLN UID Aceh, in a statement.

According to Lukman, the outage was caused by a fault on the 275 kV Muara Bungo-Sungai Rumbai transmission in Muara Bungo Regency, Jambi. The fault occurred due to bad weather, and PLN teams have been able to address it.

‘PT PLN (Persero) apologises for the power disruption that occurred in parts of Sumatra. PLN is ensuring the restoration process proceeds safely. The public can monitor the progress of the restoration information through the PLN Mobile app or other official PLN channels,’ he said.
