ILIGAN, Philippines (AFP): Unknown attackers toppled three power pylons and several electrical posts in Lanao del Sur province, affecting power supplies in much of the southern island of Mindanao, power officials said yesterday.
The steel pylons were blasted while the wooden posts were cut down in different parts of the province before dawn Saturday, said Basilio Iglupas of the state-owned National Power Corporation (NPC).
He said the toppled pylons were in a forested, mountainous part of the province that is a hideout of Moslem guerrillas. The military confirmed the report but could not say who was behind the incidents.
