Power Outages Hit Parts of Jakarta and South Tangerang, PLN Investigates Cause
Several areas in South Jakarta and South Tangerang experienced power outages on Monday (3/8/2026) morning. State-owned PT PLN (Persero) stated that a disruption in the electricity supply from Gandul towards Cirendeu occurred at 04:59 WIB, impacting several parts of Jakarta.
“Currently, PLN is focusing on restoration efforts and the cause of the incident is still under investigation,” said Haris Andika, Senior Manager of Communication and Public Affairs at PLN UID Jakarta Raya, on Monday (3/8/2026). PLN advised that the latest information regarding electricity services can be accessed through the PLN Mobile application and the PLN 123 Contact Center.
A resident of Ciputat, South Tangerang, Ani (40), said her home experienced a power outage from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. WIB. “The electricity just came back on at 7 o’clock,” Ani said. Meanwhile, Indira, a resident of Pamulang, South Tangerang, claimed to have heard an explosion coming from the direction of the PLN Gandul Substation. “There was an explosion sound just before 5 a.m. The whole house heard it,” Indira said. As of the time this report was published, PLN had not confirmed the alleged explosion.
