Power Outage in Jakarta, PLN: Due to Supply Disruption
PT PLN (Persero) UID Jakarta Raya stated that the power outage in several parts of Jakarta on Thursday was due to a disruption in electricity supply. “There was a disruption in electricity supply that impacted several areas in Jakarta. PLN is focusing on efforts to normalise the situation,” said Senior Manager of Communication and Public Relations for PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Haris Andika, in Jakarta on Thursday (23/4/2026). Haris urged the public to report the condition of electricity services in their areas through the PLN Mobile application and the PLN Contact Centre at 123. The statement responded to the power blackout that occurred in various parts of Jakarta, including office areas, on Thursday, as complained about by residents on social media. Based on observations, the power outage occurred in several areas of Central Jakarta such as Thamrin and Bendungan Hilir; South Jakarta such as Kuningan, Jagakarsa, Tebet; and other areas such as East Jakarta. Previously, a power outage also occurred in several parts of Jakarta on Thursday (9/4/2026). At that time, PLN stated that the disruption originated from the system in several substations, which caused the electricity supply to temporarily stop in the affected areas. In response to the situation, PLN immediately acted quickly to carry out normalisation by deploying field personnel. The recovery process was carried out in stages to ensure the electricity system was stable and safe before being supplied to customers. The outage also impacted MRT services, with operational disruptions at several stations on Thursday (9/4/2026) afternoon at 17:57 WIB.
