JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) is restoring the electricity system after a disruption occurred in several Jakarta areas on Friday (23/4/2026) starting at 10.25 WIB.

Senior Manager of Communication and Public Relations at PLN’s Jakarta Raya Distribution Main Unit, Haris Andika, stated that normalisation is being carried out gradually. The process is underway through control systems and direct handling on the ground.

“Our technical teams are currently conducting intensive handling to restore the entire electricity system,” he said in an official statement on Thursday (23/4/2026).

“In parallel with the restoration process, PLN is tracing the source of the disruption,” he added.

PLN urged the public to remain calm. It requested that unverified information not be immediately believed.

“At present, all personnel are on standby and striving to restore the electricity supply to normal as soon as possible,” Haris said.

Social media users have voiced complaints about the outage. “Oi why is this @pln_123, why did South Jakarta, East Jakarta, and Bekasi have a brief power cut?” wrote @djkangg***.

“Indo why is the power out in Cipinang & Hibirda Kelapa Gading @pln_123,” asked the account @thelifeofal***.

PLN responded to these complaints via its official account @pln_123. The disruption was said to be related to power plant repair activities.

“We apologise for the inconvenience. As part of efforts to improve the reliability of electricity supply, PLN is currently carrying out power plant repair activities that require operational adjustments or load management in parts of Jakarta,” wrote @pln_123.
