Power Outage in Jakarta Area, Netizens Flood Social Media with Reports
Several areas in Jakarta experienced a power outage on Thursday (23/4/2026) around 10:00 WIB. This electrical disruption quickly became a hot topic among netizens on social media. Initially, the X account @txtdrjkt posted a short query about the blackout, which garnered many responses from netizens. By midday, the post had triggered various reports from multiple locations. Several residents reported power outages in various areas, such as Salemba, Mampang, Panglima Polim, Cipinang, Rawamangun, Duren Sawit, and Tanjung Priok. Some users even mentioned that the outage extended to Bekasi. “Reporting that Bekasi is also out, where is the fire?” wrote the account @chernunos. One user also shared the dark conditions in an office building at UOB Plaza. Additionally, the power outage was said to have impacted telecommunications services. “This is Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, why is the power out? The problem is Telkomsel is also having issues,” wrote the account @hazelnut_rayen. “Power out in Jagakarsa, info from brother in Tebet and Utan Kayu also out, is all of Jakarta blacked out?” wrote the account @rifalubis. As is known, PT PLN (Persero) is currently restoring the electrical system following the disruption that occurred in parts of Jakarta since 10:25 WIB. Senior Manager of Communication and Public Relations for PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Haris Andika, stated that the normalisation of electricity supply is being carried out gradually, both through the control system and direct handling in the field. “Our technical team is currently carrying out intensive handling to restore the entire electrical system,” he said in a written statement on Thursday (23/4/2026). Along with the restoration process, PLN is also tracing the source of the disruption that occurred. The company urged the public to remain calm and not be influenced by unverified information. “At this time, all personnel are on standby and striving to restore the electricity supply as soon as possible,” he said. According to him, PLN will provide periodic updates on the restoration process through the PLN Mobile app and PLN Contact Center 123. For information, the power outage was reported in several points, including the Mampang and Panglima Polim areas in South Jakarta, as well as Jalan Lapangan Banteng and Pasar Baru in Central Jakarta. Additionally, the disruption was felt in the Tanjung Priok area in North Jakarta, up to the area on Jalan Gatot Subroto, including the office of the Ministry of Investment/Coordinating Agency for Investment (BKPM).
