JAKARTA – Several areas in Jakarta experienced a power outage on Thursday night (9/4/2026). In a video received by Kompas.com, the power supply was seen to be cut off at various points, from station areas to main roads. Passengers appeared panicked, running while switching on their phone torches. A similar situation occurred at Lebak Bulus MRT Station and Cipete MRT Station in South Jakarta, which also faced power disruptions. Responding to the incident, PLN UID Jakarta Raya’s Senior Manager of Communication and Public Affairs, Haris Andika, confirmed the electrical disturbance in several areas. “There was a power supply disruption in some areas of Jakarta originating from several Main Substations (GI) this evening, 9 April 2026,” Haris stated in a written release on Thursday. “Currently, Angke and its surroundings are still affected. PLN is carrying out gradual normalisation efforts,” he explained. He added that the public can monitor developments in electrical services through the PLN Mobile app or PLN Contact Centre 123. “We will continue to update the normalisation process periodically,” Haris said.
