Power Outage Hits Parts of Jakarta, PLN Undertakes Restoration
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT PLN (Persero) is restoring the electricity system following a disruption in parts of Jakarta that began on Thursday at 10:25 WIB.
Senior Manager of Communication and Public Relations for PLN’s Jakarta Raya Distribution Main Unit, Haris Andika, stated that the normalisation of the power supply is being carried out gradually, both in the control system and on the ground, since the disruption first occurred.
“Our technical team is currently conducting intensive handling to restore the entire electricity system,” Andika said when contacted in Jakarta on Thursday.
Alongside the restoration process, PLN is also tracing the source of the disruption that occurred.
The company urged the public to remain calm and not be influenced by unverified information.
“At present, all personnel are on standby and striving to restore the power supply to normal as soon as possible,” Andika said.
He added that PLN is providing periodic updates on the restoration progress through the PLN Mobile application and the PLN 123 Contact Center.
Cengkareng Police Traffic Unit Head AKP Yeni confirmed that several traffic lights (TL) on Jalan Daan Mogot in the Cengkareng area have been out since around 11:30 WIB.
“Earlier, those TLs went out starting around 11:30 WIB. For the Cengkareng area, if PLN power is out, the TLs automatically go out as well. Specifically on Daan Mogot, the Cengkareng Timur and Cengkareng Barat TLs are out, both towards Rawa Buaya and the other three directions,” Yeni said when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday.
Nevertheless, she said, vehicle traffic has not yet experienced any build-up.
“Our members have already been deployed to several points for follow-up. As of this afternoon, there has been no build-up,” Yeni stated.
She noted that vehicle build-up could potentially occur in the evening if the power does not return soon.
“If it’s in the evening, because it’s rush hour, it will usually build up,” Yeni explained.
Her side has also contacted PLN regarding the power outage in the area.
“I have already contacted PLN. From them, they said there is a problem, and it is currently being followed up by PLN,” Yeni revealed.
