Power Outage Hits Parts of Aceh Again

Electricity in parts of Aceh went out again at 7:24 PM WIB on Monday, May 25, 2026. Lights flickered for several seconds before going out completely.

The power outage affected residents in Aceh Besar, Banda Aceh, Pidie, Aceh Utara, and other areas. The cause is still unknown.

“We’re experiencing another blackout in Aceh Utara,” said Aceh Utara resident Fauzan.

PLN has not yet commented on the outage. As of 7:54 PM WIB, electricity remained off in parts of Aceh.

Previously, electricity supply in Aceh was reported to have returned to normal after a disruption in Jambi. All 172 affected feeders had been restored.

“Based on system restoration data, 1,872,882 customers who were previously affected have had their supply restored,” said PLN UID Aceh General Manager Eddi Saputra in a statement on Monday (May 25).

He added that full power supply was restored on Sunday, May 24, around 8:01 PM WIB. Previously, a complete blackout occurred across Aceh on Friday, May 22, at 6:44 PM WIB.

Some areas only regained power on Saturday, May 23, around 8:00 PM WIB, after more than 24 hours of outage. Other areas experienced outages of about three hours.
