Power Outage Briefly Disrupts Stations, PLN Assures Jakarta's Electricity Back to Normal
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT PLN Unit Induk Distribusi Jakarta Raya has stated that the electricity situation in Jakarta has been restored after experiencing a disruption. Senior Manager of Communication and Public Affairs for PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Haris Andika, explained that there was a supply disruption from the Main Substation, which impacted electricity distribution. However, after gradual normalisation efforts, PLN successfully restored Jakarta’s power system at 8:00 PM Western Indonesia Time. “100 per cent operational, PLN assures that all areas affected by the Main Substation supply disruption have returned to normal at 8:00 PM WIB,” he said in a written statement on Thursday (9/4/2026). Earlier, several areas in Jakarta experienced power outages on Thursday (9/4/2026) evening. In a video received by Kompas.com, power failures were visible at various points, from station areas to main roads. Meanwhile, in another video, traffic flow on Jalan Raya Pangeran Tubagus Angke in Tambora, West Jakarta, appeared chaotic and congested due to malfunctioning traffic lights.
