Power elite and little people
Power elite and little people
From Pikiran Rakyat
It is certain that political campaigns will precede the June
general election. I appeal to the little people like myself not
to overact during the campaigns by behaving recklessly. Such
actions will trigger physical clashes and end in accidents.
Remember that it is we, the little people, who will be the
victims. Also remember to refuse to be pitted against each other
by the political elite. Trust me, the political elite want to get
soft seats by becoming members of the House of Representatives or
government officials. It is not sure that they will remember us
after they succeed.
We must remember the past. We were tired when campaigning. We
became the victims in accidents. The agreeable things went to the
power elite who, as House members, received big salaries and
tempting emoluments.
In my opinion, campaigns should be conducted in a natural way
without the risk of causing accidents, because in case of
accidents it is the families who bear the responsibility. It is
not sure that the political elite will be accountable.
We may be deeply involved in campaigns, but we will gain
nothing; the little people will remain the little people who will
have nothing to eat if they do not exert themselves.
