Power Cut as House Fire in Cempaka Raya, East Jakarta Plunges Area into Darkness

Residents gathered along Jalan Cempaka IV. Five houses were affected by the fire, and wooden debris and furniture littered the street. Dozens of firefighters were still battling to extinguish the blaze. Flames occasionally flared up but were quickly put out. The Jalan Cempaka Raya area is now shrouded in darkness due to the fire. Officials were seen climbing onto electricity poles amid suspicions of a short circuit, causing the power to be cut off along the street. There were no fatalities reported. By 18:30 WIB, firefighters and PLN personnel were still working to extinguish the blaze and repair damaged power lines after the fire. ‘There were no casualties; residents evacuated promptly when the fire broke out,’ said one Indonesian Red Cross officer when contacted.
