Poultry Farm Fire in Boyolali Kills Thousands of Chickens
Boyolali — A chicken coop in Ngemplak District, Boyolali Regency, Central Java, caught fire, killing thousands of chickens.
The fire, reported on Sunday (15/2/2026), destroyed a poultry house belonging to Aminudin, located in Brajan Hamlet, Sindon Village, Ngemplak District. The abundance of flammable materials inside the coop caused the fire to spread rapidly. The 10 x 40 metre structure was completely engulfed in a short period.
The coop had only just been stocked with 10,000 chicks, all of which perished in the blaze. Various equipment, feed stocks and the building itself were all destroyed.
“The coop contained approximately 10,000 chickens, having been stocked only about three days ago. All the chickens were killed along with the equipment, including blowers, heaters and other items,” said Agus Saptoto, duty commander of Squad 04 of the Boyolali Satpol PP Fire Brigade.
The fire is suspected to have originated from a heating furnace that still used charcoal as fuel. “There is a possibility it came from the heating furnace or an electrical short circuit. Given that the heating furnace still uses charcoal, it is most likely the cause of the fire,” he explained.
