Potential Zakat Fitrah in Bandung Barat Estimated to Reach Rp60 Billion
Bandung Barat Regency, West Java — The National Zakat Amil Agency (Baznas) of Bandung Barat Regency (KBB) estimates the potential of zakat fitrah in its area for Ramadan 1447 AH to reach Rp60 billion. The projection is calculated from a zakat fitrah of Rp40,500 per person multiplied by the estimated 1.5 million Muslim residents in KBB. ‘If multiplied, the potential could reach Rp60 billion. But we are targeting Rp35 billion this year,’ said Baznas KBB chairman Iing Nurdin when contacted on Thursday (5 March 2026). Nevertheless, Iing did not rule out the possibility that actual zakat fitrah disbursed could exceed the target. After all, not all zakat fitrah of the public is channelled through Baznas KBB; other zakat management bodies also collect. In 2025, Baznas KBB targeted Rp29 billion and achieved that figure. Iing said the achievement was partly due to increasingly orderly zakat reporting administration by the Zakat Collection Units (UPZ) at the subdistrict, village, and Mosque Prosperity Council (DKM). ‘We only receive administrative reports. We do not receive money or rice. Zakat fitrah is ultimately consumed and managed in the respective communities,’ he explained. Iing explained that the pattern of zakat fitrah payments in KBB shows regional character differences. In urban areas such as Lembang, Ngamprah, Padalarang, and Batujajar, people tend to pay in cash; in the southern areas of KBB, zakat fitrah is still dominated by rice.
