Potential Gridlock from HI Roundabout Protest, Avoid These 4 Roads

The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has urged the public to avoid the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout due to a planned protest. The warning was issued via the agency’s official Instagram account, @dishubdkijakarta. “In connection with the upcoming expression of opinion action centred at the HI Roundabout,” Dishub DKI stated on Friday (12/6/2026).

In addition to the HI Roundabout, the public is advised to avoid the following roads:

• Jalan Jenderal Sudirman (in front of the BRI Head Office)

• Jalan Kebon Sirih (in front of the BGN Office)

• Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan (the City Hall, Monas, Gambir area)

• The vicinity of the UNJ Campus, Rawamangun, East Jakarta

“TemanDishub are urged to avoid these roads and continue to follow the directions of officers on the ground!” Dishub appealed.

It is known that BEM UI plans to hold a demonstration in the HI Roundabout area on Friday, 12 June 2026, starting at 10.00 WIB. As a result, traffic congestion is expected in the HI Roundabout area. “Information regarding potential traffic density at the following location: HI Roundabout Area (Central Jakarta),” wrote the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Management Centre (TMC) on social media.

Consequently, residents are urged to avoid the HI Roundabout area due to the potential for gridlock. Residents are also advised to follow the instructions and directions of officers on the ground for safety and smooth traffic flow, and to comply with applicable regulations. “Traffic density is expected on the roads around the Sudirman-Thamrin corridor. Motorists are advised to avoid roads around this area or seek alternative routes,” the statement added.
